Hi everyone! Well it's the New Year and my resolution is to loose this extra weight I have. I use to be around 135 until I started having kids which was good for me because I'm 5'6 Well then I went up to about 165. I stayed at that weight for about 3 years. Then I quit smoking about two months ago and gaind about 10 more pounds. It's awful. I really want my body back and I'm going to fight for it. So for Breakfast I usually eat oatmeal or some kind of healthy ceral. Lunch I have chicken or turkey on a piece of pita bread which I really need to replace with a healthier choice (the pita bread that is)along with tomatoe and lettuce. For the rest of the day I eat raw veggies like carrots and broccli, caulifower, celry sticks and strawberries and banans blended up with ice or salad. I also try to add more of a meat source in there everyother day. So I'm never hungry. I eat as many raw veggies and fruits as I want I heard you can do this while dieting. So that's my menu Ive stuck to it for the last 6 days and have now started 40 minutes of taibo a day. So what does everyone think of that? I just hope I'm on the right track. I would love to be skinny by June. That's six months to loose 40 pounds. Any comments or adivice would be helpful. Thanks

You need to add low fat milk, cottage cheese or yogurt. Make sure you get water and plenty of it.

I have to disagree with bushg on the adding dairy. Maybe add more protein and make sure you're getting enough fiber and water. Other than that it sounds good.

Always... I stand by the dairy. You need calcium in your diet a good way to get this is from dairy products. If you do not get enough calcium, your body will pull it from your bones. You do not want this to happen.

True, you need calcium, however, human's were not created to drink cow's milk so the calcium in dairy is very hard to digest and there is more calcium in fruits and green leafy vegetables than in dairy. I love the FDA for the myth that calcium can only mostly be obtained from milk...

I have to agree that calcium is important especially pre pregnancy. Once you have had all the babies you want then it isn't quite as important. BUT it is important to get at least 200 mg magnesium and vitamin D so the calcium is properly dissolved through your system otherwise you can end up with stones or spurs from calcium build up. Fiber is important you can get that from whole wheat, grains, buckwheat and brewers yeast.
Drink lots of water (not tap) and omega fatty acid is good too.
