My daughter that is a C130 mechanic in the air force and pregnant right now says that if she doesn't get an old credit collection debt for a hospital bill worked out by Feb they have to kick her out of the military. She has been trying to get it resolved for months now and the hospital and the credit card company keep giving her a run around. Her credit report says she owes 5,000. The hospital says she owes 11,000. And the credit co. says she owes 24,
She said she has paid like 6,000. So far but I think she is saying they say she didn't.
She has asked them to revise her income and give her a payment plan. They say they can't do that until she has it paid off. She asks them to give her a payment plan and they say they want the whole thing. She asks them to talk to the military people and tell what is going on they tell her for them to call them.
The military said they need to hear something by Feb or she is out. But she can't get anywhere with them.
What can she do? Anybody know?

1. I thought the military lawyers (Judge Advocates ?) would assist in this type of question; has she asked?

2. I would call my Congressman and see what assistance and advice he may have.

3. I've heard of servicemen/women getting booted for testing positive for drugs, but never for a debt. It doesn't sound American.

Yeah she said it doesn't make sense they give people the option to join the military to get out of a jail sentence but they want to kick her out for this.
I know that many businesses are checking people's credit as a risk factor in hiring a person.
But she has been in there for at least a year now.
