That all depends on the date :
Today it is around 2.53 ± 0.07 Mly.
But in a couple of billion years the distance will be almost nill, as the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxies are at a collision course, and will be passing through each other (and continue afterwards each their journey).
Earth may at that time still exist... Humanity most probable not...
