I want to be a Cardiac Surgeon

This whole process could take 10-18 years of schooling.
Is it worth it?

Remember, it's not all about the money. You have to have a passion for this or you won't get anywhere.

Where are the bonuses and commissions figuring in? Of all the doctors I know they don't get bonuses or commissions for surgery.

Only you can answer that. What are you willing to sacrifice to attain that goal and keep that career? Malpractice rates are high. Do some more research, see if you can even talk to one or two cardiac surgeons, talk to your school guidance counselor. Good luck.

Well I mean I would really like to save people's lives and preserve hearts and just help people out and cardiology is such a fine aspect, but all that school.. all those years... gosh...

But I don't know someone told me the sallary is just what you get from representing the hospital.
The commmisions come from your portion of the actual individual heart procedures you perform.. something like that I guess...

Most of the doctors are in private practice, not working for the hospital, they will be given rights to do surgary there. In some cases they may be employees of the hospitals but then there is normally no addiontal pay.

Also depending on who is also paying their malpractice insurance, which can be in the?? Of dollars.

But the medical field is only for those with a real love for that.

Pay depends on whether you are in private practice or group practice.

A surgeon charges one fee for surgery, then the hospital charges the patient, then the anesthesiologist charges the patient, etc.

Malpractice fees are out the roof, so the pay may be very high, but he also must pay for insurance.
