Hi I have Intel D845G 2.4 GHz, 2 Gb PC. I cannot find any solution for Multimedia Audio Controller issue. The device Manager has Yellow Exclaimation. I have downloaded AC '97 drivers from Intel but to no help.

I turned off the Audio in BIOS to turn off intergated sound chip on the Motherboard.

I also installed a brand new 6 channel CMI Sound Card. But the Cards does not get identified as new hardware in the Device Manager. The PCI Slots work fine - I checked it by moving around the network card which work fine on all three slots.

Although the new CMI Card will not get indetified in the device Manager I tried to install the drivers off the CD that came with it. But half way through installation I get the following error:

Windows MFC Application error, then I get the Standard Microsft's error reporting screenand the installtion quits!!

After all this I turned on the audio in the BIOS an kept the PCI SOund Card installed. But getting the same error during the installation of the CMI driver sftwr. And the device Manager still has the astrix in front of the Multimedia Audio Control!

Can Someone please help me with this on.

Uninstall pci card, keep audio chip in bios enabled
Go into control panel and device manager and where you see the yellow exclamation mark, right click and choose delete
Say OK or apply at bottom and close all windows down then choose restart PC
When PC restarts it should notice a sound device with no driver, at this point windows will install a generic sound driver that will be compatible with the device detected
