View Full Version : Thermastat went bad. Changed it now outside unit is not working

I Have Got A Heil Air Condition Unit.the "r" Wire On The Thermastat Went Bad You Can Wiggle The Wire And The Heat Would Come On.so I Thought I Just Needed A New Thermastat So I Replaced It Now The Outside Unit Doesn't Come On. I Checked The Breakers They Are Good.I Tried 3 Different Kinds Of Thermastats Still Nothing . Please Help Iam Freezing In My House. Thanks!

Tell us:

Terminals on old stat.
Terminals on new stat.
Model of new stat.

Jiggleing the wire on the stat could have blown the fuse that protects the 24V transformer in the furnace. They might be an automotive style fuse on the furnace control board.

Is your unit a heat pump? If so, the thermostat needs to be made to work with a heat pump.
