Hi I am a newbie.
I was divorce 4 years ago. I am disable and my ex has the kids. SSI pays my ex $888.00 per month at time of divorce. This is for two kids. One of the kids is now 18 and he should no longer get child support, but SSI is still sending a check to my ex for $888.00. Shouldn't SSI stop paying her $888.00 and pay her $444.00 and pay me $444.00. If I had a job I would not pay her the same amount for one Child.
Please If you can give me insite I would be thankful.
Ron

Only way to find out, is to contact Social Security. And if the child is over 18 and is no longer to receive it, they can be asked to pay back the monies, or loose Tax refunds until paid back.

As stated above, you should contact your local Social Security office. I do not believe your benefit will increase when the older child reaches 18.
