I had my period on Dec. 6 and my husband and I did an at home insemination with donor sperm on Dec 15 one day before I got a pos. ovulation then today Dec 31 I started bleeding, not real heavy, but heavy cramping. I have irregular cycles and this is about 3 days early than expected. Please tell me if this is a real period and not pregnant or could I still be pregnant??

I would go see a doctor to see if it you really are pregnant

It is impossible to say. However, if you are bleeding, chances are you are not. You say you got the sperm from a donor... How long was it out of the donor before it was implanted into you? Was it in a sterile container?

Sperm can only live about one hour as far as sperm testing goes... You see the most lively sperm will die or slow within an hour leaving the less motile sperm to attempt to make the trip up the vagina, through the uterus and through the fallopian tubes. This takes approximately 2-3 days. Then once fertilized in the fallopian tube, then fertilized egg takes another 3-4 days to travel back down the fallopian tube and into the uterus where it eventually implants.

If the container the sperm was stored in was not sterile, it is possible you could have introduced bacteria into the sterile uterine cavity.

Periods are early... and late... for no reason whatsoever in even the most regular of women at times. Unfortunately, it may just be an early period.

It came in a nitrogen container from a sperm bank . The instructions said to defrost for ten min then warm in hand to body temp. about 2-3 min then insert. That's what we did.

Oh, okay, thank you for clearing that up.

In all honesty it is impossible to say over the internet. We can give you our opinions (mine professional) and our experiences, but your doctor is the best help you can get.

As I said above, unfortunately, most likely, it is your period coming early. I do hope I am wrong in your case, because bleeding can sometimes happen in early pregnancy. You should wait to see if your period comes on full or not. If not, then wait one week and test with a HPT using first morning urine.

I wish you the best of luck.
