The title of the painting is Rockbound Coast and I can't see any signature on it but on the back is a paper article and a picture about this painting. On the paper picture it has a number 4. It appears to be oil. Is this painting anything special or of any value?

According to my information, he was quite a prolific artist, russian by birth. His paintings range in price from $25,000 to $50,000. And probably depend on how old they are. He died in l945 but was born mid l800s. I don't know about the painting you have, he apparently painted seascapes, rockscapes, rain drenched scenes, some pretty depressing work as far as I am concerned, but seemed to suit some people.

You could have it appraised by a professional. The only thing I can suggest doing. Good luck and it could be a gold mine, it might not be; this type of artwork is a real gamble.

You had better read the dates of the original post before answering. I don't think the OP will be back from 2007.
