Does anyone know how I can replace an old galvanized metal shower drain or where to get metal shower drains (everything is PVC these days).


I am replacing the tile in my stand up shower, but I need to raise the drain about .5” to accommodate the new tile. The drain pipe is a 1.5” metal pipe with male treads that comes up through the cement slab for the shower. The drain is a galvanized drain with about .5” flange where the female threads are. I thought I would be able to just unscrew it to raise it but the neck of the flange is not long enough. I have been searching for a new drain that would allow me to have a longer thread neck, but I can’t find any metal ones out there. Beside pulling up all the old tiles and chiseling out the cement slab, are there any ideas on how I can raise the drain that little bit? Thanks for your time.

I would dig down, cut the pipe, use a 2" fernco and return with pvc and use a standard pvc drain
