OK now I have a 91 honda accord and I've already figured out that the reason it won't start is because of my distributor but my question is, instead of just buying a whole new distributor can I just buy the control module and replace it with the old one will that get my car running?

You only need to replace the defective part. You may have to buy an assembly.

Yes, assuming the problem is with the Ignition Control Module or coil. AutoZone can test these components for free. Here's how to do it:

If the car still doesn't start, the distributor's sensors may be bad. In this case, replace the distributor housing with one from Honda and install the new ICM and coil.
