I have a toro, single stage, 5hp snow thrower, 3 years old. Wouldn't start, I put in fresh gas/oil, new plug and cleaned the carb with gumout. Starts great now and idles, but when there's a load of snow it loses power and will stall out? Any suggestions? Thanks.

How old is the blower? Is this the first time using it since you got it started? Most carbs have an idle jet and a main jet. Did you disassemble the carb to clean it or just put in new gas and spray out the carb with gumout? Carbs can run on an idle jet but under load there is a larger main jet that feeds gas as the load increases. You may need to pull the carb float bowl and do a better job of cleaning the main jet. It does not take much to block the flow. Also take a good look at your float assembly and the float shut off as it may be sticking and not allowing enough gas to enter the float bowl causing the carb to lean out and stall. Lastly do you have a manual choke, if so try setting the choke slightly closed, if it handles a load better than you have a fuel starvation problem for sure. Hope this helps.
