I have a simple coffee table and would like to place a heavy TV on it. I'm not sure the table will support the TV as is and would like to know what I can do to give the table extra support. The table is rectangular with four legs, no shelves or drawers.

This can't be answered completely without being able to look at the construction of the table, but usually, the resolution in something like this would be to span a brace through the center from one end to the other along the long span of the table.

Thanks,

Thank you. Without being able to show you a picture, I can tell you that this table is about as simply made as you can get. One top surface with four legs, one on each corner. Nothing extra.

If there is a face trim board that is vertical you could glue and screw 3/4" plywood under the top. Use screws that are at least 1/4" short of going all the way through to the table surface. Use construction adhesive and do not use the table for 2-3 days after gluing and screwing.
