For the last twenty four hours my dog Bindi has been going outside and having bowel movements of bloody mucious, thick almost stringy. She has vomited several times. It's 6:15 am in New York and I'm waiting to call the vet.

She had her rabies shot on Monday, went to the groomers on Thursday, was all right until she went for her evening walk, on Friday morning she started with the lethargy, vomiting, and bloody stool, I'm so scared for her, what can this be. She is not eating and has stopped drinking.

At first I thought it was her normal poodle get sick routine, the groomers is not her place of choice. At this point I'm scared for her life.

Someone help, talk to me while I wait for the vet to open.

Dear brenda,

I hope by this time that you've been able to talk to a vet and get your baby treated. This does not sound good at all. It could be she ate something that is blocking and painful, or she licked something wrong at the groomer's, but IMO you need to take her in to have her xrayed and checked. Don't hesitate any longer, just get her help.

When you get back, let us know how it went - I am crossing my fingers.

Good luck.

Teejay, the good news is that you are in a place in which you can get prompt medical treatment for her on a Saturday morning. I wouldn't wait to call the vet. They usually have someone on call or will direct you to take her to an emergency clinic. I would suggest you call now. The symptoms you are describing are definitely cause to be concerned. If she were a puppy, I would suspect Parvo virus. But, it sounds like your dog is a bit older.? If she is a year or younger, she may have contracted that virus or another one. Let the vet guide you as to what tests need to be done.

Those symptoms in a young puppy are something to panic over as Rubypitbull said. Not good in older dogs either. It would be almost 9 AM in New York. I hope you have already called the vet and won't see this until you are back. Please post back with how it went.
