I just moved into a new condo and my dishwasher will not drain there are four conections under my sink one goes to the sink its self the other one goes to my fridge the other two I have no idea about and I really need my dishwasher. If someone has any ideas what to do to help help me.

Ya hafta give us more then The pump won't start on the drain cycle? The pump runs but nothing drains? Do you have a counter top Air gap or a high loop on the discharge hose? Does it drain into 1) its own trap, 2) a disposal unit **or** 3) a branch tailpiece on the sink. Back to you. Tom

The drain pump works but nothing comes out and now when I try to run it the washer over flows. I took a lot of the water out of the washer and it still over flows. I have no idea about what the washer has or does not have. The model number for it is GSD640L02WB. If that helps. I have a disposal in the sink.

Follow the drain hose and tell what it connects to. Does it have a loop under the counter or does it go up to a counter top air gap/ from there does it coinnect to 1) its own trap, 2) a disposal unit **or** 3) a branch tailpiece on the sink. Have you checked and cleaned out the sump located in the bottom of the tub? Let me know, Tom

OK this is really going to sound dumb but what is the drain hose and how do I find it?
If it is a white hose then it goes to the disposal.

It is possible that some goofy installer forgot to remove the steel plug inside the disposal inlet for your drain hose. Remove the hose by unscrewing the clamp, give it a slight twist as you pull. Once the hose is removed stick your pinky inside the hole, you should not hit aplate or back wall in this hole. Come back and tell us what you find. At this point we are still grasping at straws.

OK I took it off and there is nothing in there. I ran another cycle and some of the water came out but not all of it. It is still runniing good and drying but still there is water at the bottom of the washer.

It is in the cabinet. At the top.

OK, you have a high loop installed connected to the disposal. Does all the water drain out of the tub with the exception of some water in the bottom? All dish washers have a sump in the bottom of the tub that collects the water that drains back from the hose after the pump shuts down. There will always be some water in the bottom of the tub. What's there is the water left in the high loop after the pump shuts off and the water left in the hose drains back into the sump. The only way to prevent this would be to install a hose check valve ,(see image) at the point the4 hose exits the tub. Regards, Tom

Cgoofy, if you want to confirm that this is the whole source of your problem just disconnect the hose from the disposal, lay it down flat on the floor without a loop and run the washer. You will need a pan or bucket to catch the water but when it is done you may see no water in the sump. However, if you still see water in the sump after my experiment just come back with your results. Tom's check valve will likely give you the results you're looking for/
