My husband calls me an idiot when I think I am trying to help the family out. It is staring to wear on me and he did it in front of the kids. A 10 year old and a 3 year old and the three year old is starting to talk to me like my husband talks to me. He is always asking why I can not think. He always makes me feel like I am a second class citizen. I do feel like I am not an equal. I barley feel like I am just staying above the surface. I do not want to leave him he use to be such a warm guy. But I want the best for him but the kids do not need to hear him talk to me like that.

Tell him not to talk to you that way. Draw the line. If he crosses it again, you gave him fair warning.

I can only add to the previous post, be prepared to back up that very fair warning with ACTION, he does it because you let him.

This is verbal abuse. Do some research; there is a very good website, the name eludes me. It has something to do with a cat. I don't think you need to get into a fist-fight with him, but you do need a method to make your points. Two things that come to mind are counseling and the legal system. Want to wake him up? Have an attorney prepare a petition for legal separation, asking for the usual things plus a restraining order keeping him away from you and your home.
