Our gas heater runs for a few minutes then stops for a minute or so. Then it starts again. We changed the thermostat and the same thing happens. Any ideas? Would resetting the heater help? By the way, I cannot find the reset button, even though the insrtuctions say it is on the blower.

IF you are mechanically inclined, I got a very valuable quick fix from my HVAC guy over the phone. It worked and I was thrilled I could fix it myself.
1. Turn off power and gas to your furnace.
2. There is a flame sensor (an L shaped metal bar covered with ceramic that is within one of the burner modules). Disconnect the wire to this sensor.
3. Loosen bracket holding sensor (mine was a 1/4 drive screw) take screw out and remove sensor.
4. Clean metal flame area of sensor with scotch brite or fine sand paer (area where sensor is exposed to the flame) the point being the carbon build up on the sensor is causing the flame to cycle off.
5. After cleaning sensor, reinstall, tighten bracket and wire.
6. Turn on gas and electric.
7. If this fixed it, that was your problem, if not, call a pro. Good Luck!
