I have an old Ariens snow blower. The pull cord broke and I replaced it with a new cord. I am having problems getting the tension back into the rewinder and I am not sure how to get the tension back. Anyone know how to do that.

Thanks
Chris

First remove the pull rope you installed. Then if the spring is not broken, you can holding the rewind housing rotate the rope pulley and do this about three turns, test and see if when released the pulley spins back around. If so, you are winding in the correct direction. Then rewind the spring holding on to it tightly as you turn the pulley to keep tension on the spring. Then insert the pull rope into the pulley and out through the hole in the housing. Have you a knot tied in the end that will be to the inside of the pulley. Then go about 16 inches from the end of the rope and tie another knot, this is a knot to keep the rope from going all the way back into the pulley when you let go. WATCH your FINGERS. Be careful. Then depress the brake/kill lever if equipped and pull the rope through any guides, then place your handle on the rope.
