Tried to connect my air compressor up and the breaker will not stay on. Other ansers make me believe this is a short, however, the wiring had no problems before and the motor is new. The breaker is a 30 amp, the motor only needs a 25.

Can you post the nameplate information--include manfact name and model

It is a 5hp motor, 240 volts, 25amps; Model #mc301528av; Manf. Is Campbell Hausfield
The compressor is a 4 piston type which has points for the pressure cutoff switch. I may have the wiring backwards (ie motor hooked to one set of points and line-in hooked to other set of points instead of separating the two).

Thanks

Connecting the wiring wrong is a no-no and will void the warranty, read the instructions and make sure you have it right before you turn the power back on.
