I've recently been hired as the General Manager of a new health club in town, and I'm curious for some unbiased opinions of Personal Training.

Basically, I'd like to know what you all think of personal trainers by answer these questions:

How much do you value a personal trainer's services and expertise?

Have you ever used a trainer?

Would you ever use a trainer?

What do you think a trainer actually does for a living?

What would be your reasons for using a trainer?

What would be your reasons for NOT using a trainer?

Thank you very much :)

Yes, I have had a trainer before

There was no specific fee for the trainer, because it was included in the gym membership

I don't quite understand the next question... "what does a trainer do for a living"... umm, a trainer trains for a living?!

I used a trainer to teach me how to use the equipment, and to set up a program for what I wanted to accomplish

I've had a personal trainer and I thought she was great, she knew a lot more then I and was better at motivating me. A trainer to me will teach me the correct way in which to exercise certain muscle group and tell me what I should be doing in order to achieve the results I hope for. After awhile most people get lazy and don't work as hard, or give up too soon because results aren't forth coming. I had looked into her backround as far as educational training, so I knew that I was getting some one who had the correct training and education. When I first started working out, I didn't really know what I was doing with the trainer, I learned about all the equipment, how to use it salfely and correctly, it helped me a lot. I think you should really investigate and talk to your trainer and see how they answer questions you have, and talk to them about their ideas on training, and what you want to achieve.
