Hi,
I am hoping someone can tell me if I can have my pump replaced that is a submerged one, with one that sits in the pump house. It is located 100 feet away from well itself.
My subm. Pump has died and I don't have a clue on them at all. I have looked at another but it is not submergible. Can one replace the other or does it have to be a submergible one again? And without having someone to come back in to dig up the water lines?

This one I was looking at is located on the net from one of my local stores.

Well is approx. 82' deep existing pump is about 65', so I am told.

Not sure what other info. To give you, that you may need to make a suggestion. Also I have had any well meaning people that have been giving me much conflicting info. even though well intended. :-)

This old granny really would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks CCBear

I wasn't able to get that page to load right and couldn't see a picture of the pump. Above ground jet pumps were common when I was younger. The trouble you would have, is there must be 2 pipes between the pump and the bottom of the well. No pump can suck water up much more than 30 feet. The jet pumps use Bernoulli's principal and water pumped down into the well to create suction near the bottom, thus lifting water well beyond 30 feet. The pump should work, but you are going to have to bury a second line between it and the well.

Thanks so much for you reply Labman

Hmmm sounds as if I would be better off getting another submersable one then. Sure would beat the cost of having everything dug up again, they don't do it cheaply around here.

What would you suggest for the subm. Pump? 1/2HP 3/4 HP or 1HP on those distances?
I have checked out both 1/2 HP and 3/4 HP and they say they both draw 10gal/min. There was no listing for 1HP. So what is the difference if they both draw out the same amount of water?

Have a new 82 gal pressure tank waiting for new pump, as in the beginning I was told a 20 was good enough.. Now I find out it was not!

I was so surprised when phoning around everyone seems to have a different idea of what I should have.
