My Son's got his finger shut in a door at school. The nail appears to be lifting.

I am wondering if there is anything that can be done for it even if broken.

Are there any medical people that can look at the picture and speak to this?

Thanks.

From this picture, we won't be able to tell you if there is a break or possibly a hairline fracture.

Does he have feeling in the tip? Numbness? Sharp pain? It looks to me like he could have a strong possibility of an infection. What sort of door was it? If there were any rusty metal parts or dirt, that could also pose a risk of tetanus (http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/tetanus.html).

It will be best for your son if you take him to a clinic/doctor to be examined. Its not an emergency, but he should be checked ASAP. He could have a break, he could not, but he could benefit from proper cleaning and wound dressing that a professional could apply so the area is protected from further damage. If he has a break or fracture, he'll be put in a finger brace.
