Hi there, I just bought my new dell PC, when I was setting it up, I found my mic doewsnt work. It says error message 0x80004005, it then says to install it from my add remove programs but its not in there. I was just wondering what kind of sound card I have in it, should it been SOUNDMAX,and if so shouldn't it have already been installed. Some advice and maybe a fix would be greatlt appreciated,, thxs a lot, SMOKEY!! :D

Hi,
Since you haven't had an answer in 24 hours, I will offer this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305548&sd=tech

It explains how to install a windows component, XP, using the Add/Remove Programs menu. When you get to what to add, click on "Accessories and Utilities"; hopefully, the mic will be there.
Since your error message said to use this path, you might try it again.
I am not absolutely sure this is the correct answer, but it's worth a try.
Good luck, and if it doesn't work, please post back.
