I keep having a pop up telling me that I have some corrupt files and I need to go to registrycleanerxp.com get the download and the pop up would stop, but its wanting me to buy the product and I don't want to buy something like that. Is there another way to fix the problem?

This is a rogue program; Here's help removing it from 411-spyware.com:
Remove RegistryCleanerXP (Removal Instructions) » 411-Spyware.com (http://www.411-spyware.com/registrycleanerxp)
In addition to regularly running an anti-virus program, I recommend everyone using windows use Firefox for everyday browsing rather than Internet Explorer, and run Windows Update, AdAware, and Spybot S&D regularly. For me, regularly means at least once a week. Windows Update is in your Start menu. Here are links for AVC and the other programs (all are free):
Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/)
AVG Free Advisor - Free antivirus and anti-spyware downloads (http://free.grisoft.com/)
Ad-Aware @ Lavasoft - The Original Anti-Spyware Company - Lavasoft (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/)
The home of Spybot-S&D! (http://www.safer-networking.org/)
