I need someone's help severely... Every time I boot up into Windows XP, the windows XP loads fine and then I get a black screen and then it just hangs for about 2 minutes with the HD activity light flashing dimly... I then go into my computer, unhook the IDE cable and plug it back in... then I take the BIOS battery out and put it back in, then its fine for a while...

Try booting to your XP CD and running the repair option.

It has not helped me, Ive tried this over 5 times and still nothing... and sometimes it works, and then goes back to the same issue again

First of all, check the RAM and HDD of your computer carefully .Reseat the RAM in its slot and try a new IDE cable for the HDD.Remove all devices from the PCI slots and try again. In case of doubt,re install the operating system before doing advanced repairing jobs.(Hope there is no virus infection in your computer)
