Brother HL-1240 Laser printer will not move the paper through the toner cartridge. The paper goes just barely into the cartridge, then stops. All the trouble lights register normal. It had been working OK before that, though I did take the cartrigde out to make sure it was clean as I got a sight variation of darkness in one secton of the page. After I replaced it and started it again, it made the briefest crunching sound. I could not detect anything broken or out of place.

Thankd you very much for the help.

Regards,

Pericles

Generally when a laser printer makes that type of sound, there was still a piece of paper somewhere in the paper path or the print cartridge was not re-seated properly. The paper when you find it will look like an accordion or a fan at the leading edge of the paper.

My suggestion is to start at the beginning of the paper path and follow it completely through to the end of its path looking for a whole or partial sheet of paper.

If it is just a matter of not installing and timing the print cartridge properly, then please remove the cartridge and reinstall it per the user's manual instructions.
