Hi,

This morning when I stepped into my bathroom, I noticed that my carpet was wet and the water seemed to be under the carpet. The spot started near the shower stall and bathtub. When I arrived home later today, I noticed that the water was spreading even further to other areas of the carpet in the bathroom. Could this be the result of a busted pipe? Should I contact a plumber for assistance? Is this something that homeowners insurance will pay for?

Thanks for any guidance you may be able to provide.

Is the water coming from under the sik, toilet shower, or from the wall? Where does the water seem to be coming from?

Home owners insurance may pay for a leaking pipe but you need to shut off your water main and start doing some detective work before the water does serious damage to your floors. The first thing I would do is pull that carpet and pitch it. Carpet in a bath is a bad idea to start with and now that yours is soaked it's a good time to consider getting rid of it. Once the carp[et is out and the floor is dry you can turn the water back on and watch to see where it is coming from. Flush the toilet a few times to test the wax ring under it. Come back when you are dry.
