Hello, I live with my mother who is 96 and my niece also lives with my mother for the past 5 years - I am in need of knowing my mothers rights of getting my niece out of the house - she does not pay rent and she is just destroying my mothers house with her cats and does not help out at all- I moved in about 2 months ago to take care of my mom since we could not count on my niece to take care of her and she will not leave . Please let me know the law and rights for NJ I need her out - she is very verbally abusive to my mother and I. She is also my false reports about me. PLEASE HELP - I live in New Jersey

Since she was allowed to live there as a resident in what it appears to be an exchange of rent, notice of ending that arrangement will have to be given, and a notice of 30 days to move out. If and when she does not move out then, you will have to file in housing court to evict her.

Now if there is another way, you may want to use a local attorney.
Remember you can't do anything, the 96 year old mother will have to do all of the notices since it is her place
