Hi there. I just had my second baby 1 month ago. My two babies are 11 months apart since my second came early. I recently had unprotected sex and am hoping I am not pregnant with my 3rd so soon. Are there any precautions and/ or risks with taking Plan B so soon after a pregnancy/ delivery? I opted not to take it for other reasons but am now curious if I even could/ should have in my situation.

How long has it been since the sex. And why in the world are you not using some form of birth control if you do'n't want to have another child.

Also you "just" had the baby, sorry how soon after having the baby, 30 days, 90 days? I

Baby was 1 month old on 11/22 and unprotected sex was 11/20.

Birth control is coming via mail because it's a 90 day pack (stupid insurance co. rules)

What are the risks with taking Plan B so soon after a delivery(10/22)?

Risks to you? None, but it's too late at this point, it needs to be taken within 72 hours.

I don't mean to sound rude, but you should be protecting yourself. It is not healthy for a woman to have children so close together. It presents risks to you and baby that can be very unhealthy. Including what is called an incompetent cervix, which may make it very hard, if not impossible, to carry children to term in the future.

Please use protection from now on.

And call me silly J9, and not up on this, is not one month after birth a little too soon? Is there any danger just from that?

J_9, Maybe I'm feeling a little on the defense here but please read the original question listed. The last line reads:

'I opted not to take it for other reasons but am now curious if I even could/ should have in my situation.'

I've made my decision on taking Plan B but was only curious to know if a woman could even take it so soon after a delivery. As for the protection, per my Dr.'s instructions, I am to wait until my first period to start my BC pill- and the pills haven't even arrived yet. Yeah, yeah, I know condoms or something else. No one is perfect, we just made a bad last minute decision. My two children were planned although the conception on the second was a few months earlier than we expected. We are not planning on any more children due to other (not mine) health issues so an incompetent cervix is the least of my worries but thanks just the same.

Doc cleared me for all normal activity last week stating that my body was returning to normal much more quick than expected. As for the desire, well I'm not sure how to explain that one. :-)
