Firstly I would like to say hello to everyone here!

I'm having a problem when it comes to "Erasing" (formatting) and in particular partitioning my LaCie Big Disk firewire drive.

It connects OK, transfers and reads OK, but I want to create separate partitions. I use the disk utility under OS X, which says it is in progress and then completes the task in under 10 seconds! Saying that it is complete. But when I check it, it hasn't worked!

Can anyone help me on this one?
