My daughter cleaned out her magic rocks tank into the toilet and sink. Magic rocks are these rocks that you put into a tank and they grow. Well they seem to have grown inside my sink. The toilet appears to be fine (for the moment).

I don't know much about these rocks. I pulled one out an the substance is extremely sticky. If it grew I am sure this is not good.

Before I knew what she had done I tried to put drano in the sink and so far the clog is not draining. So now I have standing water with drano in it.

I would assume I am going to have to open up the drain to see what is in there. Before I do that though I will need to get the drano out of the sink.

What is the best approach to this and has one else run into a kid that has done this?
Thanks!

I'm going to give you a link that will explain more then you ever wanted to know about magic rocks. Click on; http://www.waynesthisandthat.com/magicrocks.htm to check it out.
You will have to, remove the "J" bend of the trap and dig the gunk out.
For the Draino, put on a pair of rubber gloves and a set of protective eye glasses. Now sponge out the water from the sink and pkace a large pot or pan under the trap and keep your face away from the trap as you loosen and remove it. Clean the gunk out of the trap and reinstall it. Now see if the sink will drain. If it doesn't you will have to take the trap apart and snake up into the wall. Good luck and never put harsh chemicals in your drainage system. Regards, Tom

Good News - the drano finally did its job and the goo dissolved. I ran hot water for 20 mintes and cold water for 10 minutes and it appears to be resolved.

Thanks sppedball1 for your advice - glad it didn't come to that!
