I can't get the gas to come on in my furnace.. Someone turned it off in the summer and I can't find a knob to turn it back on... The pilot light knob won't turn thre gas on... But I have gas in my cooking stove

There should be a valve lever somewhere to turn it back on. Follow the black pipes.

There should be a valve near the furnace. If its handle is going the same way as the gas line, the gas is on. Turn the pilot knob to pilot. You should then be able to push the red button down and light the pilot.
