I'm trying to plan a affordable/inexpensive wedding and cannot find any locations that meet my price range. I am new to the wedding field and wanted to know if anyone had any ideas/locations that could work for me. My budget is $2,500 max to rent a location including food for 150 guest. Please advise.
Thanks

Many people use to have wedding receptions in firehalls and VFW's.
If you are planning on a wedding for the warmer weather you could rent a festival tent for your back yard or a park. You have to get a park permit for the park though. Actually some tent festival places rent heaters too.

I had 85 guests at mine in June and spent $3,000 on the reception. In my state (not MA) that's as cheap as it gets.

I can understand the budget game... as I said, I just went through it. I would suggest finding a "partially" finished location like a friend's house, garden, or park. Is it possible to use a township hall? I know as a citizen, I could rent my township hall banquet room for around $100. Places like that need minimal decoration or set up, so you could put more $ toward food. Personally, we had zero alcohol, so that saved us around $1,200 right off the bat. We also saved money by having an earlier wedding. Our food was more of a lunch menu than a formal dinner menu, which certainly helped.
It depends largely on your area, but to be perfectly honest you might want to cut your guest list if at all possible. I live in a really small town which is cheaper than a large one and my guest list of 150 became much smaller with my budget.
