I have a son who is 18 this week. I've been telling him for over a year and a half that, because of his active drug use, possession, and dealing, he will have to leave when he becomes an adult. We were strictly warned by local police not to put him out of the house until he is an adult. Now that the time has come, he's pulling out all the stops in trying to stay and continue in his lifestyle. I just want this kid gone! Please help. We are in Jackson County.
Thanks!

Pack up his bags and change the locks. Put his bags in a storage facility or in the garage.

Once he reaches the age of majority - 18 in Missouri - you tell him he's out, pack his stuff, tell him to pick it up within a certain number of days or you're putting it in storage. Then do just that. Change the locks. I think the Police gave you bad advice - you could have gone to Family Court and (this is matter of the term the Court uses) either declared him emancipated or a minor in need of supervision and gotten a Court Order to get him out.
