Hi all.

One of the element got shorted out and I had to replace that element. There were spark and burns at range and element join. Once I replaced the new element, it got turned on the heat. But the problem is that heat is Maximum all the time. When I use controller to lower the heat, it doesn't work.

Whirlpool Range Model is: RF360BXYW

What can be reason and how I can fix it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The top burner switch has failed due to the short. Replace it. Also replace the burner receptacle if you didn't replace it with the burner.

Thanks for reply.
Do I really have to replace receptacle, even if the newer element is burning fine except the issue mentioned in my original message above.

If the plug in ends of the old burner were pitted or burnt in any way you need to replace the receptacle. You should also check on the other 3 burners to keep them from burning out prematurely.
