I have accidentally stumbled into a role of being a producer. I am in the process of starting a film production company with my partner who is a director/screenwriter/producer himself. We have a working script and I am working on a business plan. I am interested in getting some advice from established producers about securing financing for the project. I wanted to also get some information about the legal aspect of how to approach potential investors legally (offering securites?? Regulation a and regulation d?? )

Hello fj:

You need a lawyer, preferably one experienced in securities law. I could tell you how to do it, but if you do it wrong, or I'm mistaken, the cops aren't going to let you off if you tell them you're doing it this way because some exconvict on the internet told you how.

Besides, IF you have your OWN lawyer, if you do it wrong, you can SUE him. You can't sue me.
