I am interested in the BSN online Nursing Program at Canyon College in Idaho. Is it an accredited college.

The Chronicle: 11/26/2004: Don't Judge a College by Its Internet Address (http://chronicle.com/free/v51/i14/14a02901.htm)

I don't know if this will help you but it took me all of 30 seconds to find this... surely there is more out there.

Good Luck

No, it is not a legitimate, accredited college. You can verify any college's accreditation here:

User Agreement (http://www.chea.org/search/default.asp)

Also, you can look for diploma mills and other unaccredited institutions at various State sites, such as the State of Oregon

Office of Degree Authorization (http://www.osac.state.or.us/oda/unaccredited.aspx)

Canyon College Idaho Has no authority to issue degrees under Idaho law. Use of a Canyon College degree in Oregon is illegal.

They are indeed legitimate, they are accredited by the Central States Consortium of Colleges and Schools, which is not recognized by the DOE, however it is nevertheless a valid accreditation body. True it is not the greatest school, but it is not a diploma mill either, you have to take actual courses by actual teachers, and graduation is not guaranteed.

They are on a list of NON-ACCREDITED colleges published by the state of Maine, it's just the first listing I saw on Google from a source I would consider reliable.

Non-Accredited C-CH (http://maine.gov/education/highered/Non-Accredited/c-ch.htm)

So they are not accredited... the body who has certified them is itself not recognised by the Department of Education.

Since they are not reconised by the DOE, I would be concerned about any nursing degree because of licensing laws requiring accreditation.

Western Governors University is an accredited university that offers this degree

My question for an online nursing degree is how you expect to get in your practicums and clinicals? Which hospital is going to allow you in?

Anyone know about National University? Here is a link on their accreditation. Is this good?
