My daughter (college kid) has a Maytage dryer DE303 that will start when button pushed, but won't stay running if you let go of the button. I thought it was the timer, but I replaced that, still does the same thing. Help.:(

I'm sorry to hear your diagnostics didn't go well. The key here is holding the start. Motors have a start winding and a run winding. The start winding is functioning the run winding has failed. You need a new motor. I would consider bailing on this dryer (I rarely tell that to anyone). This particular motor will not only need to be replaced but you will probably need a pulley also (with the age I doubt the old one will come off). The cost of the two combined will be between $125-$150 depending on your local supplier. I would consider looking on Craigslist for a new to you dryer. I sometimes even see them on there for free. A DE303 is nearing 40 years old and I would start questioning the condition of the wiring and the units safety.
