Regardless of whether the film clip cracks you up or annoys you, let me know what you think. What being a liberal is all about?

Honestly?

I think it's just another worldview or opinion on how things should be. There are those who tout Constitutional conservatism, communism, socialism, and a whole host of other "-isms" as the "best" one.

At it's core, I think that liberalism is long on worthy ideals, but a little short on resources. I think that in an ideal world, many facets of liberalism would actually work, and work well. Unfortunately, infinite works can't be done with limited resources.

I used to not have too much of a problem with liberalism. I didn't necessarily always agree with it, but figured it was no big problem. Lately, however, there is a fringe group of liberals that is growing larger and--to my mind--more dangerous. These are the ones who spout love, but openly hate anyone who doesn't agree with them. They scream for tolerance, but totally reject differing ideals. It's really amazing that their own hypocrisy doesn't occur to them. Worse yet, some of them think themselves so far superior to everyone else that they're willing to stomp all over others' rights "for their own ultimate good." Granted, these people are few in number, but very vocal. And their ranks are growing. The irony is almost overwhelming.

Hey, I'm all for personal freedoms extending as far as possible--right up to the point that they hinder someone else's freedoms. At that point, they have to be curtailed for the good of the overall society. I would love nothing better than for all people to be fed, clothed, and housed--I just differ from other people on the best way to do that. I'm all for security--but not at the price of civil rights.

Unfortunately, in these days of ever-expanding technology and new situations that no one ever envisioned, those lines are becoming more and more blurred.

Do you believe the above characteristics apply only to liberals?

Nope, not by a long shot. I could apply those same characteristics to LOTS of groups. But since we's talkin' 'bout the liberals, I applied it them. Other times, other places, I apply it to other groups. Myself included, more often than I'd like.

What being a liberal is all about?Hello DC:

What does selling wind power have to do with being liberal?

Or are you mocking the add itself? Does it connote liberal values that you disdain? What values would those be? Acceptance of something new - be it wind power or a strange guy??

I think you’re right though. Conservatives would rather use coal, and put people like this dude in jail.

Most of the time, I have no idea what you're trying to say.

But let me ask you…just what part of “Regardless of whether the film clip cracks you up or annoys you, let me know what you think.” don't you understand?

You are sounding more and more like Bill O'Reilly. Has ANYONE on this site EVER said they hate you?? I don't think so. You're making up stuff. I can't deal with people who make stuff up.
