I'm a mommy! My little boy decided to make his appearance at 34w6d (Thursday, October 25). My water broke at 2:30am and he was born at 1:21pm. Labor was really quite easy, but my cervix got stuck at 7cm at 6am. My doc wasn't able to come in until 11, and the on call doc didn't do anything but keep me on pitocin. I had no pain until my doc came in and manipulated my cervix to get it to stretch (had scar tissue from LEEP). I labored very very hard for 45 min, got the epidural, then it was time to push. He came out in half hour, and I ended up losing a lot of blood because the only way my cervix would stretch past 7cm was that it had to tear. Unfortunately it took about 45 min to find the laceration, then another 40 to sew it up cause it goes up and down and was hard to reach. Once it was sewn up everything was great. If not for that I would have had him by 7-8 in the morning! I probably wouldn't have had the epidural either, since I wasn't feeling any pain! Guess everything happens for a reason!
Jackson Patrick was 5lb 5oz and 19in long at birth. His lungs were fully developed, and other than some jaundice he was/is completely healthy. He got to come home on Saturday and is doing very well. He is breastfeeding, but struggles with latching since he is so small, so I'm having to use a nipple shield, but I'm okay with that. We're also supplimenting with formula after each breastfeeding session until my milk comes in to rid of the jaundice. He is absolutely wonderful! I couldn't be happier! Motherhood is absolutely amazing.
Just thought I'd update everyone here and let you all know he's here. Thanks so much for all your help throughout the pregnancy. I'm sure I'll have lots more questions now that he's here!
