On the way to school the other mornig my 6 year old daughter hit me with the question... "Mommy, what does sex mean?" You can imagine that I thought I had a couple more years before this question would present itself so I was totally unprepaired to answer. I asked her what she thought it meant and she said like "making out and stuff"
( I also can't believe she know what that means). I paused and told her that I wanted to think about how to answer this question and I would get back to her in a couple of days. So my question is What is an age appropriate way to explain what sex is to a 6yr old in first grade? I believe sex is on a need to know bases and at 6yrs you don't need to know that much about it. But I want to be able to answer her so she gets an answer I approve of instead of asking someone else and getting too much information.
