My computer won't log in to internet. I know I have signal I even called the company. When I turn on my computer it takes a long time (around 3 mins) to load my desktop. And when that happens my tool bar at the bottom looks like windows 2000 or 98 which is suppose to be windows xp.

And, every time I click on the icon to connect to the internet an error pops up. When I do click on "cancel" or "ok" my PC automatically restarts.

It seems I have a virus.. I guess. But, I lost my disk to reformat my PC.

What should I do?

What is the exact text of the error message?
Also is it possible you are booting up into Safe Mode?

Hi,

It's one of those errors where... To send a report to Microsoft I think. Kind of like "Microsoft has encountered a problem..something...something...would you like to send a report...something...something " lol Sorry I can't really remember.

Naw, I don't think I'm booting up in safe mode.

The it's probably best to boot up into Safe Mode (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm#02) and do a complete virus scan from there.

That's cool. My problem is I don't have a virus scan lol :D Guess I have to pay for one. Will reformatting help?

No, you won't have access to the internet. You'll need to get the latest install file from another computer and burn to a CD.
