My 2002 Honda CRV has 44,000 miles on it. I was told I need a transmission overhaul. The codes are P0845 and P0700. I see the P0700 refers to the automatic transmission but can not get a read on the P0845 code. I filed a case with American Honda re: the transmission overhaul. I have owned 4 vehicles -- all Hondas -- and have never had any type of repair like this. My feeling is that a properly maintained CRV with 44,000 should not be in need of a transmission overhaul unless something more is going on. I was wondering if others have experinced this issue under the same circumstances. Thanks!

P0700 Indicates that there is a Transmission (A/T) DTC
When you're using the scanner to retrieve engine DTCs on an OBD-II-equipped vehicle, DTC P0700 means you have an A/T DTC. You won't see P0700 in any troubleshooting section of the service manual; it's a generic code (sometimes referred to as an Identifier) that lets you know there's an A/T DTC while you're checking engine DTCs.

DTC P0845: Problem in 3rd Clutch Pressure Switch Circuit
The repair could be as simple as a software update.
Possibly a faulty PCM.
Or the 3rd Clutch Pressure Switch may be faulty.

I don't think an overhaul is in order here. Further diagnostics need to pinpoint the exact problem.
