Depends on how well it was kept, I don't know what the new price would be, that's something you should ask, and also ask what the oil change intervals were, what oil he used, did he grease it up, everything that needed it, blades, air filter, oil filter if equipped, spark plugs... will he let you try it out? Then other little nit pick things like what's the external condition paint wise. It does sound reasonable, try low though, say $900, it always does good to negotiate.
