I am looking for the tittle to a movie from the sixties. I think it involved a few guys telling stories, maybe they were on a train. One of the stories was about an artist that has his hand severed. The hand searches out for an art critic that did not like the work of the artist. I think it probably kills the man in the end. I do not remember the other stories.

Sorry to be a naysayer, but that isn`t The Hand, it`s a segment of the anthology horror film Dr Terror`s House of Horrors (http://www.dvdmaniacs.net/Reviews/A-D/dr_terrors.html).
You can see some screenshots of the art critic, played by Christopher Lee, on the page I linked to.
I don`t doubt that The Hand was influenced by Dr Terror`s..., though.

Well, I don't know what the name of the movie is, but searching the internet, I found this link:
http://www.eatmybrains.com/showtopten.php?id=29
and it lists the top 10 severed hands movies. I found the one that scared me to death as a 5 year old, back in the early 60's, called 'the Crawling hand'.
One thing I might warn you about trying to find movies (and TV shows) from your childhood you loved (especially if the adults couldn't stand them), is that as an adult they just don't play as well.
I remember as a child, I loved 'My Mother the car' which all the adults couldn't stand. As an adult, I found it on eBay and bought some copies of it, to only find out WHY the adults hated it.
Same was true with a science fiction TV series of the late 60's where a bunch of explorers were injured while in the mountains, and they in effect found shangrala (sp) and were healed, and had a patch 'installed' in them, that made them superhuman.
As a child, I loved it, but as an adult, I found it boring.
In any case, hope the link helps you find the movie you are looking for.
