I presently use a 20-lb propane bottle for my outside gas smoker. I would like to connect the smoker to my home 250-gal propane tank. Are the pressures from these two sources the same, and if not, what would I have to do to accomplish this? Thank you.

As long as you have some liquid in the tank, the pressure will always be the same, no matter how big the tank at the same temperature. It goes up with temperature. So it will be just be a matter of finding the right fittings. You also want to attend to code. I can't advise you there.

Thanks for the reply labman... after thinking over your reply it dawned on me that if the pressures are the same, I probably need to keep the regulator in the line and should move it (or purchase another one) to include in the line to the tank. Do you agree with this?

Yeah, I kind of though about the regulator after I clicked submit. The regulator is part of the smoker, keep it.

Absolutely, keep the original regulator inline to the smoker, that will ensure the correct pressure to your smoker. Also, I would recommend the installation of a simple cutoff valve outside inline just before the regulator to the smoker, and would not turn it on until I was intending to use the smoker, then cut the gas off to the smoker after each use.
