hi, because computers calculate in binary numbers, that is- in BASE 2, instead of the BASE 10 (decimal) that we first learn in school, 1 MB, capitalized, equals:
(1024 bytes) X (1024 bytes) = 1,048,576 bytes
= 1 MB
