My son recently graduated college, but before he graduated he was diagnosed with a inguinal hernia. He was going to do his last semester abroad and didn't want to take care of his medical issue as it would have prevented him from doing this. Now, already graduated, he wants to get medical insurance so that he can have his hernia taken care of.
What are his chances of finding someone to cover him, knowing that he has a pre-existing condition?
Help please

Depends on the state you are in. Here in MA the individual and group market have merged. No pre existing and no rating for health. Rates are based strictly on age and location. Also here, a dependent is covered to the age of 26 or 2 years beyond the year you declared him as a dependent. In MA, most likely he could still be under your plan.
Each state is different, check with a local broker to see what his options are.

I do not know about MA, but in any state I know of, only group health from an employer would pay for a pre-existing condition.
IN private insurance normally you have to not been advised to have treatment or you have to go a time without any medical treatment ( needed or advised)

You are in most areas unlikely to find coverage on a preexisting condition
