I have ran a 12/2 up to a point where I want to power two 1500 (240v) watt baseboard heaters each running off a separate thermostat. Each heater will heat a separate room. I have double-pole wall-mount thermostats. Do I split my 12/2 and go to the thermostats or is there another way this should be done?

Run the wire to the thermostats. Keep it simple

Thanks. Just to be sure... I should put a junction box in and separate the 12/2 and run each to a thermostat? (Just being extra clear, here).

Any connections must be in a box and accessible. Other trades are allowed to bury their splices in the wall, but not electricians. The split could be in a separate box, or just feed the second one off the hot feed to the first, like one outlet feeds another one.

I am trying to install the thermostat on the right end of my baseboard heater,do I connect the black wires to one another and the red wires to one another?
