I just found this forum, and I'm really glad I did. I hope someone here can help me figure out this problem.

I have a 3 year old Kenmore 2-Speed washer and it washes clothes just fine. The only problem is that it overflows when the water is draining. When this first began to happen, I had a plumber come out. He unclogged the drains and told me to put a lint catcher on the end of the washer's hose so the lint would not continue to go down the drain and clog it again.

This worked fine for a long time. I just had to occasionally change the catchers and had no problems with overflowing. Well, recently, it's gotten to the point where the machine overflows every wash, because it seems like the lint catchers get full 2 to 3 times per wash. I have to keep rotating it so the washer won't overflow.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this so I don't have to babysit the washer? It is a hassle.

Hi Deidrah, In the future if you have a plumbing problem please post it over on the plumbing page.
Washer clogs are caused by fiber and grease build up in the drain line. You've probably saved yourself a ton of money in service calls with the lint catcher.

Places the blame on the material that you're putting in your washer and not the washer or the drain. The washer doesn't generate the lint, the stuff you're washing does. You may need to snake out the drain line again if it's backing up out of the washer stand pipe. Keep the lint traps on and cut back on washing shag throw rugs. Cheers, Tom
